PART ONE
(jump to
Part Two) The Daytime & Our 5th Mural
Street Vendor Day & the Peoples Parade
Our painting appointment is at noon, so we occupy the morning
getting our pictures together. Then it's off to see Angie.
We bring our iPads, loaded with animal pictures.
We connect with Emma and Shannon our painters. Emma says "You
want me to do what to your breast?"
We show them our pictures, and discuss the mural. They are
impressed at how organized we are. There is some
negotiation over price, but after a a few quick text messages
with Troy, our painter from previous years, the contract is made.
And so the painting begins
I hold up my monkey for Emma. (no, not that one, my iPad monkey!)
We attract attention from the Peanut Gallery behind us.
Emma touches up my monkey...
...and there it is. Fantasy Fest Mural number 5.
Back to the Condo to drop off our clothes and stuff we won't
be needing the rest of the day. Naked is cool!
Out and about, on the streets.
Mallory Square
Wylands Gallery, for the essential photo op
Wyland snaps a picture of us, and then poses.
We pop into the Smokin' Tuna for a cold one. ..and find it's
been taken over by a Swingers Club!
Back on the street...
A quick break for some street food.
The Bats...
And... The Bat Cave
It takes us over 4 hours to walk the 5 blocks bewteen the two Wylands
Galleries on Duval. This is where we'll watch the people exiting
from the Mascaraed March. Two of us are a bit gimpy, so we
elected not to walk the parade route.
The sun is about to set, and the night looms ahead. Want to
see more?
